International sporting events promote peace between countries. To what extent do you agree or disagree?
International sporting events are those in which people from different countries come and play together. It is generally believed that these events create peaceful environment worldwide. I agree with this statement to some extent but I also reserve my views.
To begin with, international sporting events create peace among nations as players of different countries come in same field where there is no political issue and discrimination among players. So, they only come to enjoy sports together.
To add on, players from different nations play together by which they come to know about their cultures, problems and they know that all people are in same situations. They too face same problems like them so they not only show their respect towards others but also get concerned about their problems which makes the relation strong among countries.
Alternatively, I personally believe that sports events which are organized at international level may sometimes become the source of stress as all players want to win the game but when they get defeated they have a thought of taking revenge which may spoil their relation.
For instance, it is often seen that India and Pakistan’s players get into a heated argument on the field which fills the heart of two nations with bitterness and results in having more disputes.
Moreover, sporting events are not organized for long time. So, it has nothing to do with promoting peace among countries. The objective of these events is to promote recreational activities and not to strengthen the bond of one nation with the other.
To sum up, international sporting events create peace among countries as players come to know about other participants which builds the understanding among them but we cannot ignore the negative side of it as it creates stress among teams and players, they think of taking revenge when defeated and these competitions are organized for few days which cannot bring any change in the relation of countries.
