Some people say that all popular TV entertainment programmes should aim to educate viewers about important social issues. To what extent do you agree or disagree with this statement?
Watching television is a common activity nowadays and people usually watch different TV programmes on the screen. Many individuals advise that well known TV shows should be aimed to educate people on plethora of social issues which are popular in our society. I totally agree that if the programmes are telecast with the objective of awaring people then such initiative can bring tremendous change in the society.
To commence with, the count of people who watch television for entertainment is in millions. There are well known serials which are famous among people and by watching those every person is becoming aware about certain social issues of society.
In addition, there are many problems which are increasing rapidly in different parts of the world like child labour, pollution, job problems etcetera. All these concerns are common and telecast on television. By watching shows people come to know what to do if they face these issues.
Moreover, sometimes direct messages cannot bring the desired change which a television program can. People can be educated through these programs and famous celebrities. In serials and shows everything is conveyed in well organized manner by the producers and directors. People have craze to follow things which are shown on television that is where TV proves itself to be helpful in delivering the message and bringing change in the vicinity.
Furthermore, television shows also help to reduce crime rate of society because in serials it is shown that if a person commits a crime so he will be given strict punishment. The person who is watching shows like these will learn a lesson that if he does any crime, he will not be spared.
To conclude, I believe there is no doubt in nodding that TV shows are helpful in educating people on social issues by awaring them about the matters of society, about negative impacts of these issues and even about the solutions.
So, yes these entertainment programs should definitely be used as a tool to spread awareness among people.
