Many doctors recommend that older people exercise regularly, but most patients do not follow an exercise routine. Why do you think this happen? How can people be encouraged to exercise regularly?
It is undeniable that regular exercise is one of the key factors for a healthy and fit lifestyle. It is observed that most elderly people do not like to follow an exercise routine, even when prescribed by their doctor to do the same. I am going to underline the root causes and various solutions of this problem in the upcoming paragraphs.
To commence with, I believe that there are many reasons that the oldest people cannot follow a regular exercise routine. Since the older age comes along with various health problems. It becomes difficult for the elders to get up and do any task properly. To exemplify, health problems like weakness, back pain or knee pain becomes extremely common in the old age. Even if clubs are set up for their base they are unable to go because of difficulty in walking or even moving. Also, there are not many places today available where the elderly can go to exercise. Because of having no common ground to interact with their peers, they are naturally discouraged to exercise.
Alternatively, I believe that some measures can be taken that can mitigate this problem. Firstly, the older people should be made aware of the various health provisions they can enjoy because of exercise and should be made known about how fast their body can deteriorate if regular body movement is not practiced. They can enjoy an independent lifestyle provided that, their body is functioning properly because of regular exercise. Parks and various health clubs should be set up, in order to increase participation proper facilities should be provided at these places so that everyone can enjoy exercising. Additionally, proper advertising of these places should be done so that instead of exercising alone, the older ones can chat and make new friends.
To sum up, exercising in old age is, indeed, an inevitable requirement for a healthy body. Elderly people can be encouraged by healthy clubs and should be ensured of the various health benefits of exercising. By these measures they can be motivated to exercise regularly with ease.
