IELTS ESSAY 2025

Some people think that the amount of noise people make have to be controlled strictly, others say that people are free to make as much noise as they wish. Discuss both sides and give your opinion.

The debate over noise control often revolves around striking a balance between individual freedom and the collective well-being of a community. Let’s explore both perspectives:

To begin with, the advocates for strict noise control argue that excessive noise can significantly degrade the quality of life for individuals, particularly in residential areas. Continuous loud noises can disrupt sleep patterns, increase stress levels, and negatively impact mental and physical health. In addition, excessive noise pollution has been linked to various health issues, including hearing loss, cardiovascular problems, and impaired cognitive function. Strict noise regulations are seen as necessary to protect public health and safety.

Alternatively, those advocating for freedom of noise argue that individuals should have the freedom to express themselves and engage in activities that may generate noise, within reasonable limits. Imposing strict regulations on noise could be perceived as infringing upon individual liberties and personal freedoms. Importantly, noise is an inherent part of cultural practices and celebrations. Advocates for freedom of noise argue that restricting these activities could suppress cultural expression and heritage.

Finally, while I value individual freedoms, I believe that strict noise control is necessary to maintain a harmonious and healthy living environment for everyone. Excessive noise can have detrimental effects on physical and mental well-being, and regulations are needed to protect public health and ensure that individuals can enjoy peace and quiet in their homes and communities.
