IELTS ESSAY 2025

It is difficult for people who live in cities to get enough physical exercise. What causes and solutions can be taken to solve the problem?

In urban settings, many struggle to incorporate regular exercise into their routines. There are some causes and solution for the same.

Living in cities poses unique challenges for maintaining physical exercise routines. One significant factor is the demanding nature of urban jobs, which often leaves individuals with limited time and energy for exercise. With packed schedules and long work hours, finding opportunities for physical activity becomes increasingly difficult.

Moreover, the abundance of entertainment options in cities can further deter people from prioritizing exercise. From dining out to attending events, urban dwellers are constantly bombarded with leisure activities that compete for their time and attention, often pushing exercise to the back burner.

Additionally, the scarcity of open spaces and exercise facilities in urban environments presents a tangible barrier to physical activity. Limited access to parks, gyms, or recreational areas means that even those motivated to exercise may struggle to find suitable spaces to do so.

Every problem has its solutions too. Governments can play a crucial role in addressing these challenges by raising awareness about the importance of physical exercise. Through public health campaigns and educational programs, individuals can be informed about the benefits of staying active and encouraged to prioritize exercise in their daily lives.

Investing in community-based exercise facilities is another effective solution. By building or renovating parks, community centers, and sports complexes, cities can provide accessible and inviting spaces for residents to engage in physical activity.

Furthermore, infrastructure improvements can promote active transportation and outdoor recreation. Adding dedicated bike lanes, pedestrian paths, and green spaces not only encourage walking and cycling but also contribute to overall urban livability and sustainability.
