IELTS ESSAY 2025

Task 2: People living in the 21st century have a better life quality than people who lived in previous times. To what extent do you agree or disagree?

Humans have inhabited this planet for centuries, and with each passing century, the lifestyle of people has evolved. It is evident that individuals living in the 21st century generally enjoy a better quality of life than those in previous eras. My logical reasons will support this assertion.

Firstly, I tend to believe, advancements in healthcare have significantly enhanced both life expectancy and the quality of life. Diseases that were once fatal or debilitating, such as smallpox and polio, have been eradicated or controlled through vaccines. Modern medical technology, such as MRI machines and minimally invasive surgeries, allows for early detection and effective treatment of numerous conditions. Additionally, public health measures, including improved sanitation and access to clean water, have drastically reduced the incidence of infectious diseases.

Secondly, technology has revolutionized communication, education, and entertainment. The internet provides unprecedented access to information and resources, facilitating lifelong learning and global connectivity. Social media and video conferencing tools enable people to maintain relationships and collaborate across distances. Advances in entertainment technology, such as streaming services and video games, offer diverse and immersive experiences, enhancing leisure and recreation.

Thirdly, economic development and technological innovation have significantly improved living standards. Modern conveniences, such as electric appliances, automobiles, and smartphones, save time and increase productivity. The development of renewable energy sources and efficient technologies also contributes to a more sustainable and comfortable living environment.

In conclusion, while many aspects of life have improved for those living in the 21st century, it is important to acknowledge that these benefits are unevenly distributed, and new challenges have emerged alongside these advancements.
