In some countries, fast food restaurants and super markets give money to schools to promote their products. Do you think this is a positive or negative development?
Advertisements of different products is a commercial strategy adopted by different companies to promote the sale of their product. It is generally observed that there are some countries where the fast food sellers approach academic institutes to promote their eatery products and for this they give good grand to the schools. I personally believe that promotion of fast food in school campuses is definitely a negative advancement.
To begin with, I tend to believe that schools are the place where students not only learn about academic knowledge but also get motivated to adopt good habits in their life and healthy eating is one of them as fast food contains cholesterol, high level of sugar and artificial flavor by which health of children can deteriorate. So, in spite of being aware about the consequences of such foods, promoting it in schools does not seem to be a good idea.
A survey report reveals that there is increase in number of students who have developed the habit of eating fast food after its promotion in schools.
The another reason is that the children are innocent, they are not aware of their good and bad things and if school promotes the fast food products, it will pass wrong message to the students as they will assume that their mentor is giving them permission to have such kind of food so there is nothing bad in eating it. Moreover, they also insist their parents to buy fast food for them.
To sum up, although these strategies are successful in promoting the products of these companies but I consider it a negative development because it is not good for the students. They get wrong message and develop bad eating habits. So it becomes responsibility of schools to prohibit such promotions in schools.
