The Boastful Hunter

The Boastful Hunter

In a village, there was a hunter known for bragging about his incredible hunting adventures. Despite being a bit of a show-off, the villagers respected him. He loved boasting about wrestling lions barehanded and taking down elephants with a single bullet. According to him, even small animals trembled at the mere sight of him.

One day, as he strolled through a forest, he came across a woodcutter from the same village who was busy chopping trees. The boastful hunter greeted him, saying, “Hey there! What a splendid day, isn’t it?”

The woodcutter, aware of the hunter’s exaggerations, replied, “Absolutely! By the way, have you noticed any lion footprints around here? It’s been ages since I last encountered one,” playing along with the boasting.

“Oh, lions fear me, you know,” the hunter declared confidently.

The woodcutter decided to have some fun and said, “Well, there’s a lion in a nearby den. Want me to take you there? The thing’s getting more ferocious each day. Killing it would be a massive help to the villagers.”

Suddenly, the boastful hunter’s bravado faded. He nervously stammered, “No, no, I just wanted to see its footprints. I’ve quit hunting wild animals. They have lives too, you know. We shouldn’t kill them for our pleasure.” With that, the once-proud hunter quickly retreated from the scene, realizing that sometimes, bravado doesn’t hold up in the face of unexpected challenges.
