The Fox’s Gift
The forest was alive with excitement, every creature decked out in their finest attire and carrying brightly wrapped gifts as they made their way to the lion king’s den. It was a grand celebration for the lion king’s birthday, and everyone was invited.
As the gathering unfolded, the fox was noticeably absent. Seizing the opportunity to create trouble, the jealous wolf approached the lion and said, “Your Majesty, look at how disrespectful the fox is. Not a sign of him here to wish or gift you on this special day. Some strong action should be taken. It’s a lesson for others. As our king, you deserve our wishes and prayers for a long life. It seems the fox didn’t care to wish for your well-being.”
Right at that moment, the fox arrived at the den, catching wind of the wolf’s accusations. The sly fox paused, thinking for a moment, and then spoke up, “Your Majesty, I apologize for being late. I was out getting a pair of magical shoes for you, ones that would keep you young and healthy forever. Unfortunately, I couldn’t get them.”
Curious, the lion inquired, “Why not?”
The fox replied, “Because, Your Majesty, they required a wolf’s skin to make them. If we can find a wolf’s skin, we can still have those magical shoes for you.”
Hearing this, the wolf, realizing he was in trouble, bolted from the den. He certainly didn’t want to end up as the lion’s shoes. The clever fox had turned the tables on the wolf, giving him a taste of his own medicine.
