The pleasure of Freedom
Once a beautiful golden bird had made her nest on a tree in a forest. It was a unique sparrow as she would sing, shiny pearls would fall from her open beak. One day a bird catcher came to the jungle and he noticed the strange bird. Soon he spread a net and the poor golden bird was caught in it. The bird catcher took the bird home and kept it in silver cage and fed it well with the hope that he would get shiny pearls and would go very rich. But the sad bird did not sing at all and the hunter never got any pearl.
As the bird was of no use to him, he gifted the caged bird to the king’s daughter. The princess was a beautiful girl with a kind heart. She felt really excited to see the bird and got a better cage made of gold for the sparrow. She not only treated the bird tenderly but also brought her the best delicacies to eat. But soon she realized that the little bird was not happy in the cage and every time she fluttered her wings to fly, she would shed her lovely golden feathers. The sparrow would neither hop or chirp all day and the princess also noticed ocean of sadness in the eyes of the bird. The young girl’s heart melted in pity and she told the bird, “Oh dear sweet Birdee, I am so happy to have you, but I will be more happy to see you flying in the sky with your flock of birds. Go and enjoy your life in open sky.” and at once she opened the door of the cage and set the bird free.
The pleasure of freedom made the golden bird sing aloud and soon a shower of pearls fell in the room of the princess. After that the golden bird started coming to the princess everyday and would sing for her.
